Ster Kinekor - not sensative to persons with disabilities.

I'd like to share my experience and disappointment with Ster-Kinekor (Sandton).

I secured some tickets with Cliffcentral.com (CC'd) to the exclusive premiere of Baby Driver for my partner and myself.

Sandton being an hour drive from me, I had no qualms travelling there for the experience and atmosphere of spending time with great people of CliffCentral; only to get there and find out there was no way for me (a parapleigc in a wheelchair) to take the elevator down to the Cinema - due to construction. We spoke to some security guards to see if there were any alternative routes down. We took a trash filled service elevator down and ended up waiting for 30 minutes in a cold, garbage smelling service tunnel for a backdoor to be buzzed open - to no avail. We missed the screening, paid the parking and made the hour trip back home.

Missing the movie was disappointing but missing a private screening was even worse.

This is totally unacceptable and was a monumental inconvenience. Seeing as a Cinema is such a large attraction, there should have been a secondary plan in place. Whether it be Sandton City mall or Ster-Kinekor, some foresight would have made for better inclusivity.

This experience reflects poorly on Ster-Kinekor and people with disabilities.
