Ster Kinekor Gateway Shopping Center, Umhlanga

We decided to go for movies this afternoon due to a rainy day in Umhlanga. After spending an half an hour in the queue we eventually obtained tickets for Passengers 14h30 show due to the 11h45 show being sold out. We headed back to our residence in Durban North and returned around 14h15 to Gateway in time to be seated. At the point where our tickets are scanned and 3D glasses obtained, we were told that the show had been moved from Kine 2 to Kine 15. We moved to the opposite side of the entrance to stand in another queue to have our tickets scanned for Kine 15. Upon entering the theater, all seats were occupied and we learned that a technical problem had developed in Kine 2 and the movie was now being screened in Kine 15 (which is considerable smaller). ALL SEATS WERE OCCUPIED. What was Ster Kinekor thinking ??!! How can you squeeze people from one theater into another, which was already sold out. There was no usher at the door turning people around or stating the obvious. People were milling around in the theater amongst those seated even after the lights had been dimmed. The eventuality was that everyonenot fortunate enough to find a "first come first served" seat walking out of the theater not having a clue what was happening. STILL NO STAFF WERE AROUND TO ASSIST ANYONE WITH THE CHAOS AT HAND. Eventually people were directed to ANOTHER mile long queue to try and get a refund. After spending another hour in that queue we were refunded for the tickets. There was no offer to refund snacks bought at the kiosk, no parking refund and worse yet, no apology for the inconvenience by management. The means in which the entire spectacle was handled left a bad taste in my mouth and I can imagine the same for all other clients standing in that queue. POOR POOR management Ster Kinekor !!!
