Projector went down, audience without feedback

We were sitting watching Taken 3 when, just before the climax of the movie, the projector and aircon suddenly went off in our cinema. There were still lights coming form the entry and we could still hear the cinema next door so it didn't appear to be a power cut. After about 10/15 minutes someone from Ster-kinekir informed us that they'd had a power surge which tripped the projectors and that it would resume shortly form the same place it had stopped. After another 15/20 minutes and several false starts and showing of previews without sound, our movie started again, about 15/20 minutes further into the film right after the conclusion of the final battle/fight scene/climax. After a minute or 2 some of the audience went to go find out what was going on and about 5 minutes later the projector went off again.Again we waited and waited with more of the audience leaving all the time and still no word from anyone at ster kinekor. Eventually I too went outside and spoke to someone and they said, we can either have a complimentary ticket or just stay and wait for the next show. I was the one who had to go back in and explain to everyone still left sitting in the cinema what was going on.
