Paying R150 to sit in a cinema with no movie playing for an hour and eat popcorn

We went to go watch an IMAX movie at Cape Gate on Saturday at 13:00, and after waiting for 15 minutes for the movie to start they told us that they have some technical issues. One hour later it turned out that the projectors didn't work and we received comps for our tickets.

While it is a given that we would have received a comp for the fact that we can now book another movie in place of the one we missed, I feel that nothing was done in terms of the worst experience at Ster-Kinekor we had in a long time. We basically paid R150 to sit in an empty cinema for an hour and eat popcorn, drink a slush puppy, and snack on some astros. If I wanted to do that, I would have stayed at home and do it in the comfort of my own living room.

Ster-Kinekor prides themselves that you pay a premium for the experience. With this, and any other luxury experience, if something goes wrong, you need to go out of your way to make up for the fact that it wasn't the experience that you promise your clients - not just refund them.

Additionally, the lady that handed out the comps was very rude when we couldn't immediately find our tickets - that was not a place and time to interrogate people and make them more upset.
