Movie Night Disaster

Went to the Ster-Kinekor theatre in Cresta last night to watch the invisible man with my girlfriend.

Started off bad and only got worse.

Upon arrival we bought snacks from one of the terminals, no receipt comes out, so then we have to go stand in the snack line because there is no other staff around to help, eventually get to the front then have to go back to the terminal to get a receipt before standing in a snack line for a second time to get the snacks.

We get to Cinema 10, the adverti*****ts are playing and immediately we notice that the projector and the screen are not aligned, cutting off part of the left of the screen as well as subtitles at the bottom, so in order to sort this out before the movie starts I go on another quest to find a staff member, he follows me to the cinema, I show him the problem, he agrees there’s a problem and disappears, comes back 5 minutes later to say someone will sort it out and I never saw him again, by that time the movie had started and no-one ever fixed the problem.

On to the next problem, the speakers aren’t synchronized properly, sounds like you are sitting in a tin can, you can clearly hear a delay between some of the speakers, so you hear sound coming out of one and then a fraction later you hear the same sound coming out of another speaker. This made it difficult to hear what anyone was saying and was incredibly annoying.

Then the final problem, I like a bit of bass as much as the next guy, but the bass was set so load that it vibrated something by the projector room, this annoying rattle overpowered everything else to the point that it’s all you can hear.

Does Ster-Kinekor not screen a movie before showing it to the public? Surely you would expect that if you pay almost R100 just for admission that someone would at least have had the brilliant idea of checking whether a movie is watchable before displaying it to the public.

Make this right Ster-Kinekor or I’ll permanently take my business to the competition.
