Misleading age restrictions

On Sunday we were Extremely disappointed at Blue route mall ster kinekor, we took our 3 Yr old to try watch the latest how to train your dragon movie as she adores the other 2 movies of the series , we bought our tickets at the self service counter, bought our pop corn, drinks etc and go to go enter the theatre I only to be told no under 7s... Even though on line the movie is rated PG... My understanding is PG means they can watch with parental guidence... No where else in the world was it rated PG 7-9 i know for sure my nephews in the UK have seen it and they are 5 and 7. .. We were with her and staying with her...SURELY if its PG its up to the parent to decide if the child can watch. No where when buying tickets did it ask us the child's age surely it should have if you are going to impose an age limit of no under 7s... So we got our tickets refunded but were then stuck with the exorbitantly expensive food which we couldn't enjoy in the theatre. And an extremely upset child. As per my understanding of this https://www.fpb.org.za/ratings/ " Material is not suitable for children under the age of 7. Children from the ages of 7-9 years may not be allowed to watch a film classified 7-9 unless accompanied by an adult" It states unless accompanied by an adult... We her parents are adults we intended to watch the movie with her so was it right that the staff denied us access?

If you are going to impose an age restriction on a movie in the future please make it a question that has to be asked and answered before purchasing! So people who are self serving don't waste time and money like we did today.
