Indistinct dark blurry visuals

It seems South African cinemas now project all films in power-saver mode. I walked out of both a Ster-Kinekor and Nu Metro showing of Rogue One today as it was almost impossible to make out what was happening on screen. It is so dark you can't make out which character is speaking: scenes with backlight results in blurry silhouettes. The worst is the hints throughout that the set and extras in the dark negative space is excellent! It's like there is a good movie happening in front of you but not enough light comes off the screen to let you enjoy it. Infuriating thing is that there is nowhere to go: the two cinemas are colluding to deprive South Africans of movies that pop!
