************** in 2023
We took our kids to movies today at Gateway and we were chatting to the manager who we knew well and he advised us when we mentioned we booked for the Barbie Premier that it is for ladies only and my husband will not be allowed entry.
My husband had pre-booked tickets for us to see the new Barbie movie long ago for this Thursday night, at Gateway Umhlanga for my birthday.
I want to take this opportunity to declare that this is discriminatory and non sensical.
You are a JSE listed company and this is ************** on the basis of gender and *** as the term is ladies and/or girlfriends getaway.
In this current climate it would be an outrage for people to be refused entry on the basis of gender or ***. You will be hitting your head against a brick wall when people dressed in drag/ or if they do not identify as what you would like them to are refused entry into your cinema on this basis.
I know of plenty of “ladies nights” at Ster-Kinekor where *** friends have been refused entry because of how they identify or that they cannot enjoy the same merriment as with any other female for whatever reason. Eventually management had to let them in because it is unacceptable, discriminatory and ******* for you to do so regardless of right of admission reserved.
Girlfriends getaway can be interpreted as anything to anyone. How do you define girlfriend, lady or girl legally. Where is the definition on the basis of *** or genders?
Similarly I do not see “boys night out” or anything alike for the “male” perceived movies because you understand women will be vocal about this **************?
Please confirm if you will still refuse my husband entry on Thursday evening. So that I may take the matter further.
