Experience, Service, the whole lot! Just terrible.
I visited the Eastgate IMAX on Tuesday to watch the new highly anticipated Top Gun with my family of 4. Having frequented Menlyn IMAX many times, there's a couple points to be raised, in order of importance: 1. The picture quality was grainy and blurry, all the fonts and finer details were blurry. What we watched was not IMAX! But rather a normal HD resolution video stretched across an IMAX screen. 2. The sound in IMAX theaters is meant to be surround sound, it’s a part of the experience, what we experienced was stereo. 3. The counter staff supplying refreshments are the rudest folks I’ve ever encountered, They completely ignored us, not even looking at us when spoken to, nor muttering a single word. They are also careless, the new, (rather terrible) brown paper bags for popcorn ripped while they were filling it. 4. The Online booking facility on your website, was broken, this forced me to purchase tickets inhouse. Then your self-service card machines were down, fortunately the assistant at that counter
After considering the cost of tickets and all that goes along with it, (well worth it, if frequenting the Menlyn IMAX), I feel quite cheated and ******. I wanted to walk out during the film, but my kids were so hyped to watch this new Topgun that I just didn’t have the heart to do so.
I will certainly never frequent that sub-par cinema again, nor can I support the ster kinekor group, since its just too much money to risk on a bad experience. NuMetro here I come!
