Avatar 2 Poor 3D Quality at Ster Kinekor Cine 3 Cavendish Square

Today I went with friends to see Avatar Way of the Water in 3D at Cavendish Square branch in Cine 3. I have not been to this cinema in years because I normally visit Nu Metro Canal Walk for 3D movies because they have a 4K laser projector and Dolby Atmos sound. But I did not want to travel so far this time, because Cavendish Square is only 15 minutes from my Home. When the movie started, I noticed it was slightly out of focus, and I got up and told the Ster staff member outside to inform the projectionist. Then after noticing when subtitles appeared on the screen when the Naavi talk, the text is a little blurry, I got up again and managed to get hold of projectionist. He argued that there was nothing wrong with the image quality because the picture is perfect in cine5 as well. I told him that I am cine 3. Anyway, nothing was done, and I was forced to watch the film that was extremely soft and slightly blurry. I was with friends otherwise I would have left. This video quality and sound used to be very good at this cinema, but now it was extremely disappointing. Maybe it is because we are used Ultra HD 4KHDR at home when we stream Netflix or the Nu Metro Cinema that boasts the laser 4K projector, are simply much superior with ultra sharp images. Other things that was distracting, is that this cinema had a 1.78 aspect ratio screen and the Avatar movie was wider aspect ratio 2.40:1. This wider image does not fit the screen, but ster-kinekor did not invest in any masking, so the images look washed out. Also the 7.1 digital sound is no comparison to Dolby Atmos. I don't go to the cinema often anymore, but when I do go maybe 3-4 times a year, I do not mind paying good money to see movies with good sound and picture quality. The sound in Cine 3 was okay but not better than Dolby Atmos, but the 3D visuals were extremely disappointing. The projectionist was also not willing to adjust the focus. I will definately ensure that next time I avoid Ster-Kinekor at Cavendish Square. Maybe their Cinema Prestige have better picture and sound, but tickets were sold out. But I think I will have to travel 40 minutes and go back to Nu Metro in Canal Walk to watch my 3D movies there because the 3D Quality is ultra sharp and much more detailed. My 4K TV at home was better quality than this Ster Kinekor cinema. If Ster Kinekor do not upgrade their quality in their cinemas, they will lose customers. I will definately not be going back to this cinema.
