Expiry Date removed

I visited Golden Sun supermarket in the Tongaat area today to purchase the Steers sauce that was on promo. I looked at over 40 bottles of sauce and noticed that the expiry date was rubbed off. When i questioned a staff member of the store, she was told by her manager named Praveen that he is not sure what the expiry date is and he is not sure how the date was removed. He could not guarantee me that the sauce will not be expired. With the cpa introduced to the country in 2011....how can a supermarket sell food items that could be expired??? Also who is Steers responsible for supplying these sauces without an expiry date with the hopes off selling expired items to the customers???
