Bad Customer Service
Good day I visited the site to share my bad experience customer service I received at Steers Mall of Africa. This is my first time reporting bad customer service and I do feel bad because I also work in retail and it would be a tragedy to lose my job simply because I couldn’t do my job. I was buying small chips at Steers today and by the way the staff rendered the service it was quite flagrant that it wasn’t going to end well. So i ordered my small chips for R15.90 from Nokuthula and stood a few cm away from the store,I was directly facing the counter. I waited for almost over 10 minutes which I found very strange because when I got there it wasn’t really busy at all. After some time I went back to ask if my order is ready,Nokuthula responded “Your order has been ready” speaking in vernacular and not even in a friendly manner then I responded “Oh I didn’t know” then she said “You could’ve been waiting on the collection area” which was true but she didn’t tell me that after doing my purchase then I said to her “But I was just standing right in front of you as you were taking orders, you could’ve just waved and let me know my food is ready” she responded with attitude and said “that’s why we have the collection sign,it’s not my job to wave at people” I didn’t say anything further just to avoid the argument,Firstly I’m strongly dissatisfied with her service, she could’ve just apologized for keeping me waiting and gave me my chips and no one was going to get hurt but In fact she thought otherwise. This is not a racial based issue but I feel like black to black customer service is bad. The staff cannot even smile or have a friendly face, they’re always angry and mean. I would like for Steers group to put this to attention that they need to train their staff on how to treat customers whether they’re buying Ice cream for R5 ,black, white, tall, short,it doesn’t matter,it takes one customer to make profit and if you lose that one customer it will make a difference to the profit margin. I am not angry at Nokuthula I’m just fascinated as to why is she working at an outlet like Steers while she can’t even smile when a customer comes through. It takes one customer complain to tarnish the whole company. Please Steers advice Nokuthula on how to render service. Thank you
