12 Character password madness

Sorry 1 star is not my choice ~ if I don't select at least one star I cannot comment. Trying to register the Steers app on my cell phone, all goes well until I try to enter a password. Then the app refuses to accept password less than 12 characters. That is total madness. Who remembers 12 character password without writing that down. I don't carry a note book with me to list one password. The average app requires a password of 8 characters including at least one capital letter, a digit and sometimes a special character.
