Faulty Nissan NP200

COMPLAINT NISSAN NP200 REG JY86CPGP VIN ADNUSN1D5U*** Claim NO ***3

This bakkie was bought brand new from Star Nissan in Vereeniging and received on 01-04-2021. STAR NISSAN had the radio installed.

On 19-04-2021 we had to take the vehicle back, as it would not start, after standing a few days (two or three days) in our workshop. The driver had to push and then jump start it, as it would not start at all. It was completely dead. After STAR NISSAN investigated they told us they could not find any fault with the battery or the bakkie.

On 24/05/2021, the same problem occurred. And we took it back to STAR NISSAN. We wondered if the radio might be draining the battery, even when switched off. Again STAR NISSAN found no fault.

On 21/06/2021 we had the same problem and took the bakkie back to Star NISSAN. We asked them to keep the bakkie there for a few days and the start is, to see what happens. The started it every day. We again explained it occurs when it stood a few days, and they then said they sent it for a new battery (which we are not so sure of) and parked it for a few days, ad reported that it was giving no problems.

Our guys (different driver) started working in Kathu in the Northern Cape and surly on 21/07/2021 it was reported again that the bakkie would not start easily and in 22/07/2021 they had to push it again to get it started, even though it was used the previous day. It happened again that afternoon.

1. It would seem that NISSAN sold us a faulty vehicle 2. STAR NISSAN VEREENIGING is unable to resolve the problem- had the bakkie three times and keep on asking us to bring it back, with no result. 3. It is unacceptable to buy a brand new bakkie and it is not starting at times- our technicians have to have reliable transport and this is very unreliable. 4. We have two other NISSAN NP200’s and are giving problems too. I am not sure I trust this brand anymore- details to follow in separate complaints.

A further update on this matter - on 08/10/2021 this bakkie went back to Star Nissan Vereeniging and today, 15/10/2021, a week later there is no progress made except for the fact that they want to check now how much battery power gets lost over the weekend. That means we will still not have a vehicle after the weekend. We were not offered another vehicle for use in the meantime, we are not being communicated with about the status of the bakkie - we have to phone them instead of them phoning us with progress, but that is because no progress is made. How can we not get a new bakkie? Obviously this was a faulty vehicle from day one. Why do we have to keep beating at a dead horse? Even after complaining to Nissan Head Office we have not been given any decent feedback or assistance. We are just being brushed off.
