Deceit and robbing

I bought a vehicle from this dealer and as usual just like many dealers during the shopping and the purchasing phase I was given attention and listened to but the sales person by the name of Mandisa Mngomezulu.

After the sale was concluded Mandisa started dogging me and my calls and he only asked me once about my experience of the car and when I told him something I was feeling not so good about the car he did not respond and avoided me even further.

Furthermore they (Star Nissan Vereeniging) charged me R 4385.96 for service, delivery and registration and sadly they failed to register my vehicle because the traffic department had a wrong address on their system for me. I then met with their employee who calls himself Buthelezi who then advised me that I need to register the car myself and he will make it a point that I get refunded all my money.

I went and registered the vehicle and during the registration process I spent R150 on fuel travelling between Kompton Park traffic department to Midrand traffic department and the registration number plate premised.

I also spent R400 on the registration number plate, and the vehicle registration cost was R1104.60 which makes the total spending to be R1654.60.

I then submitted the cost to the dealer and to my surprise I was only refunded R1270 and I am told they will not pay me the balance. My frustration is the mere fact that when they were charging me for the registration I was told I cannot take out this fee because it a requirement and Buthelezi promised me that I will be refunded each and every cent I spend when I do the registration but now they have changed their tune.

The Star Nissan Vereeniging dealer has hired ****** and they are not operating on a fair practise of the Financial Service Board which means they must always maintain honesty and integrity when delivering a service to the customers. I am a very disappointed customer right now and worse I have been corned by a proper company and amount of R384.60 which they have told me they will not reimburse me with because apparently those costs are on me and no one is willing to answer me as to why and if they were doing the registration as per the initial agreement who was going to pay for these.

This dealer is very unreliable and tricks people and rob them too.

Mr. Madonsela,

Upon full investigate and communicating with you we would like to post our comment sent to you.

1. You bought a Tata Xenon D/C from us with a Tata factory warranty valid until the 3rd November 2018 or 100 000 km. This implies that only Tata may perform any mechanical work on the vehicle. On delivery you were told that the vehicle has got a factory warranty and you should contact Tata directly in case of any mechanical complaints. This means the vibration of the gear lever that you apparently complained about should have been taken up with a Tata dealership.

2. The address you supp**** us for licensing purposes stated clearly your physical address is in Tembisa which falls under the Kempton Park licensing authority. We send our licensing clerk all the way from Vereeniging to Kempton Park to do your license.

3. Once at Kempton Park they informed my clerk that your address falls in the Midrand area and the license should be taken out in Midrand. Because of the time he has already spend at Kempton Park waiting in a queue, there was no time to go directly to Midrand and he had to return with unfinished business.(fruitless distance traveled +-170 km, because the proof of address supp**** was wrong)

4. The next day he again went all the way from Vereeniging to Midrand to try and license your car. Once in Midrand they told him that your address, Mr. Madonsela, is according to your ID on their system, actually in Johannesburg and that my clerk should get a proof of address from you that falls in the Johannesburg district, or you personally must change your address at the licensing department. Once again he returned with unfinished business.(fruitless distance traveled +-190 km, because the proof of address supp**** was wrong) This now adds up to 360km which works out roughly to about R450.00.

5. Once back in Vereeniging, Mr. Buthelezi, our clerk contacted you and arranged to meet you personally at Johannesburg licensing department to assist you in sorting out this issue. Once again going all the way from Vereeniging to Johannesburg, he eventually met you there only to hear that you personally had to change your address at Kempton Park or Midrand because you could not supply a proof of address in Johannesburg. Now Mr.Madonsela, I would hardly call this a lack of professionalism from our side, especially if we have not asked you one sent extra for fruitless expenses occurred through having the wrong proof of address.

6. Once you sorted out your proof of address we received claims from you for the license fee, ( including a debt outstanding on your ID for R 234.60.) number plates and a fuel refund slip.

Mr. Madonsela, our policy says we refund license fees and number plates costs, not customer debt or fuel expenses occurred by customers trying to sort out they own proof of address. This is the reason why we have only refunded that specific amount.

Star regards

Reviewer Update

Good day Paul

Thank you for the feedback you provided.

I need to mention to you that your clerk Mr Buthelezi told me that all expenses I will incur during this process will be refunded to me hence I did this.

Had Mr Buthelezi told me of your refund policy I would have not register the car but would have only went to fix my address.

Bear in mind if I did this your clerk, Mr Buthelezi, would have needed to drive back again to Johannesburg to finish the registration whereby he would have paid for the debt outstanding on my ID for R 234.60 and spent more money on fuel moving between the traffic department to the place where he was going to cut the registration number to me to have it fitted.

To close of the matter I had a discussion with you telephonically where we discussed my frustrations and you explained things to me. You will recall that after you explained your policy I indicated to you that the debt on my ID number it is fine even if you do not refund it to me but I feel very hard done on the money I spent on fuel because I was promised to be refunded hence I ended up putting my bad experience on hellopeter.

If you look at it fairly especially if I did not register the car after changing my address you would have spent more than R150 on fuel to complete the registration.

Thank you very much for your response even though I am still not happy.

Regards,
