Stanlib + Standard Bank refuse a transfer

More than a week ago I visited a Standard Bank to give an order for a final close of my account. Therefor they made a copy of my ID-Book and I had to sign some documents - Everything is clear.

A couple of days later a unknown lady with a hidden number phoned me to ask for my ID-No. I was a bit worried to give this information to not known and identable person, but she promised that this is the final step and I would get my money within 2 days. OK.

A couple of hours later another unknown guy with hidden number phoned me asking for my banking details. Now I refused and from this point I complained, struggle with different people. One asked me if I got my money, but nothing happens in getting my money back.

Is it worth to involve a attorney, because the Ombudsman needs weeks to months to come to a result

Hello tomcathessen,

Thank you for bringing the issue to our immediate attention. It is regrettable that we have encountered unexpected process delays and thus not met our 48 hour SLA with our investors. You also state that the funds, which reflect as paid on our unit trust administration system, are not reflecting in your bank account.

We have escalated the issue for immediate resolution. The funds have been paid, but it would seem that there is a branch code issue. What happens is that the bank rejects the funds the next day. STANLIB will aim to re-release the funds so that they reflect in your bank account tomorrow (the funds may be delayed for 24 hours due to the inter-banking ACB transfer system).

I do hope that we can recover our relationship with you. We do understand how important it is to provide the best and most reliable investment service to all valued investors.

Kind regards

Barbara Egan, on behalf of the STANLIB team

Best regards,

STANLIB
