Most SHAMEFUL company in SA

We all know that state and para-statel companies in SA are mostly inefficient and frustrating to deal with. But Stanlib holds a special place in SA because it is a private company, linked to one of the big banks, Standard Bank, that functions worse than our worst para-statels. It is hard to fathom how a purportedly successful investment bank can have SO LITTLE PRIDE, SO LITTLE VISION, SO LITTLE INTEGRITY, that it allows itself to deginigrate into a filthy shell on a company. They'll still take you money, for sure, and still put up a banner in the airport, but they will ignore your support even though they control lots of your money. The website(s) are falling apart. They are made up from pieces from various eras taped together and they are embarassing and unusable. The website team (or one individual there) should be ashamed of this job; it is amateur and I very much doubt secure. The only thing one can imagine is that the execs and shareholders of this disdainfull capitalist failing skim so much off the top that they leave inadequate operating costs to offer compeditive salaries to the pitiful employee who hold this foundering ship together. I would be ashamed to work at this exploitative disaster. Take your money and run, serious.

Dear 21stcn,

Thank you for this afternoon's discussion on the technical and navigational frustrations you have experienced in the STANLIB web environment and the Standard Bank interface. We appreciate you bringing your personal insight to our immediate attention. We would like to engage with you further as it is when our customers highlight when and where in the web environment things are not investor/customer friendly that we can promote improvements and changes to enhance the STANLIB customer experience.

Your input will be invaluable in assisting us - I look forward to further discussions and suggestions via e-mail.

Kind regards

Barbara Egan, on behalf of the STANLIB team

Reviewer Update

I'll admit I was out of line with the review but I will reiterate the point that it got your attention. Ironically it is easier to get support from you on hellopeter by posting a scathing review than it is through your email support channel. Let me just remind you that your autoresponder to email support queries states: "We will attend to your query within 24 hours". You need to enforce this or change it to reflect things more accurately. I currently have a simple email request going on 72 hours unasnwered.

Regarding your site/online platform, to be honest you can't and shouldn't ask your clients to help you design an adequate user experience. You shouldn't plead ignorance here and ask client to log their annoyances with the platform. That would be fine if the system was modern, comprehensive, consistent and fully functional and you were looking for some nuianced improvements only apparent upon actual usage. But that is far from the case. The onus is on you to get your platform modern and to keep an inhouse lead developer who has the vision to keep it healthy and useful to your clients. Get any outside consultant in to give it a quick evaluation and you will have enough problems to get started. It's not magic. Look to your competitors. The obligation to keep up is yours. Your new login and client area is a good start, but you need to port the whole system into that framework else it's little more than a reskin.

Anyway, good to know someone is out there.
