Is it at all possible to close a Stanlib account?

As a trust we used to invest in the Stanlib Money Market Fund. We requested the account to be closed about three years ago. Somehow Stanlib missed the last few Rands in the account, so it remained open (with a small balance). About a year later we requested closing again. This time Stanlib left 80 cents in the account, so the account remained open. Being open, it remains part of our annual audit, so in November 2014 we again requested closure of the account. This time nothing seemed to have happened, since we just got another statement still showing our proud balance of 89 cents. STANLIB, PLEASE CLOSE OUR ACCOUNT!

Hello Paul2012,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Although such a ridiculous sum, we do understand the impact on auditing for your organisation.
We will adjust the investment to a nil balance as quickly as possible and then send you a statement confirming the position.

Your patience in allowing us to resolve the issue is appreciated.

Warm regards
Barbara Egan
on behalf of the STANLIB team.
