You can't open an account on the standard Bank as they claim

So I wanted to open a bank account at standard Bank since having left the bank a few years back for that very affordable bank.

Noticed that you could now open an account on the app so I downloaded the app and filled all relevant information. This was great because it meant I wouldn't stand in line at the branch.

Until the next day I saw it said application unsuccessful on the app. Which was strange because it fell like I was applying for a loan. It's just a bank account for crying out loud.

So is it safe to say that their marketing was incorrect when they said I can open a mini account on the app?

It's really disappointing because when I went to my nearest branch I was told that the branches systems is offline. I wasn't about to drive to another branch just to do something I was told I could do on the app.

I will look at another bank thank you very affordable.
