Wrong person_A|_s account closed
In a disgraceful blunder a member of Standard Bank (SB) staff tasked with closing my late father's bank accounts closed mine instead. My statements show the money had been transferred to a non-existent deceased estate in my name. When informed of the error, SB attempted to return my money, had some go missing again, then returned it once more. However most of my accounts are inaccessible to me via internet or ATM despite my having visited the bank several times trying to get the problem solved. I was thus uncertain whether important debit orders would go through on time. When informed that I'd lose my medical aid cover if their debit order did not go through on time, SB told me they would help with payments IF THE DEBIT ORDERS WERE UNPAID, meanwhile leaving me uncovered if a medical emergency should arise. I was forced to make alternative payments through other means which may have resulted in double payments. As a result, the funds in my only accessible account are severely depleted. After a full week I am still unable to access two accounts and may now have difficulty getting duplicate payments refunded. The stress is unbearable. SB doesn't seem to care.
