Worst banking experience ever.

I had the worst banking experience at Standard Bank bank in Northgate. I visited the branch to get a new card and also create a stop order. I was told to sit down and my name would be called. To my amazement, there was only one consultant serving on the side where I and other clients were told to sit. I waited a bit and then asked the lady at the door to see the manager. I went straight to the manager’s office and he arranged for another lady to come assist. The manager told me that the other consultant was on lunch and will be soon be back to assist. I waited for over an hour to be called and assisted. I was so furious as I had other things to do, besides sitting and waiting to be served. The manager came to the floor and assisted two or so clients at the telephone/internet banking booth and then disappeared. No one came to address us or apologize to us for the long waiting times. I called another gentleman who was very long but also not helpful at all and he told me I would be called next. The manager came back from wherever he was and had no regard for me or any of us in the queue. I asked him about the waiting times and he said he will go check and get back to me but to no avail. I found the Northgate branch the worst branch I have ever visited. Staff is very complacent, they were roaming around in plastic shopping bags and no regard for the queues. I understand they could be on lunch or whatever but not 3/4 of the branch, during the busy lunch period. There is no sense of urgency at all and what shocked me was how the branch manager had no regard of me even after complaining several times. I can understand why the staff doesn’t care much about clients, I mean if the leader displays such behavior then you can imagine how the people he is leading would be. I left after waiting for 2 hours with jus a card and couldn’t get other things because I was rushing somewhere. Now I need to get up early and go finish off the other transactions at the airport branch since I am travelling. Such an inconvenience. I am never going to the Standard bank Northgate branch ever again and will never recommend it to anyone.
