Worst Bank in South Africa
The worst service and a complete waste of time at the branch and on the phone. I'll be taking all my money elsewhere.

I too will be taking matters further. I will be sending an email to Mr. Theunis Duvenhage with regards to my complaint about the biligerent attitude experienced by Ms Tembi Mayisela at your Tygervalley branch. The ONLY positive about today's encounter at that Branch was the positive and helpful attitude by Ms Pamella Jim, who provided me with contact details of Mr. Duvenhage, and Mr. Brian Williams, Cathment Head at Tyger Manor.
Unfortunately, going to the Tyger Manor was a complete waste of an hour. Firstly, I was told that Mr. Williams was in a meeting so I would not be able to speak with him. When I asked to speak to the Manager of the branch, I was referred rather to a Team Leader, even though the Manager was in customer view all the time. Nonetheless, I spent a few minutes with the Team Leader, whose name I don't know, as she had not given me her name. And from there, I spent close to an hour on the phone with a Standard Bank MasterCard agent, who by the end of the hour had wasted my time. If she had stated from the very beginning what she required from me, rather than waste my time going through a full ID identification/verification, if I had been told what documents were MANDATORY, we need not have gone through the entire verification process. It is clear to me that asking to speak with someone in authority is something not possible.
I will be moving ALL funds currently in my account to a bank that treats its customers with respect (ABSA). And they are willing to help each and every client, by treating them as individuals. In addition to a sizeable amount of money in my chequered account, which I had all intentions of investing with Standard Bank, I will also be transferring my monthly pension funds from Old Mutual, also to ABSA Bank.
Please view my current balance in my current account, ***2. These funds will be withdrawn by the close of business on Friday, 17th March.
All of this nonsense is because Standard Bank are unwilling to grant me a Credit Card. I had absolutely no issuse with ABSA granting me a credit card, based ONLY on my bank statements, from both Standard Bank and FNB. So, now I will be oa mumber different acciunts with them.

09 Mar 2023, 16:00I have started making arrangements to move my funds as previously indicated. My next course if action is to encourage others to do the same. Perhaps when Standard Bank realizes that clients will shop around not only for the best products, but also for professional conduct and service delivery from staff, then they'll actually understand the value of their clients.
