Why Does Standard Bank Hate People So Much?

For a company that once ran under the banner, 'Simpler, Better, Faster,' I can't understand how Standard Bank has designed its processes. Everything is more complicated than it needs to be, and slow and annoying.

I moved all my accounts to STD Bank due to a favourable bond rate, and immediately app**** for an access facility on the new home loan. STD closed the access facility due to inactivity *before the bond was even open*. That is one of several ridiculous problems I encountered in my first few months with the bank.

I have been trying over the last 24 hours to transfer money from the access facility (eventually reopened) into my regular account so that I can pay SARS the money I've been setting aside. Internet banking said no and that I must go to the branch (it's always go to the branch). I did so, and they put me on the phone(!) and I was told that the access facility was closed due to inactivity in March. If it is inactive for 6 months, it is apparently policy that it is closed automatically and the client must reapply.

Now let's assume my account *was* inactive (I have my doubts, but maybe; I have certainly been making regular deposits since March). What would be simpler than closing my facility? *Not* closing it. What would be better than closing a thing that I specifically asked for? *Not* closing it. What would be faster than making me reapply? *Just about everything*!!

If there is hostility in the bank towards people having access facilities, just don't offer the things. Why make annoying interventions instead of doing nothing? Or if they really must have regular activity on a 20-year account, why not just ASK the customer if they want to keep the facility open?

How can one recommend an institution as disinterested in customers as STD Bank? My problem is being sorted out (the slow, complicated way), but can STD Bank please begin to acknowledge that they have one?
