Where is the no star option?

Off to Std Bank Claremont I go to upgrade my sons account from a SUM1 to an Achiever as he is almost 18 and needs to move over to a more adult account.

I'm advised he needs to be with me and I need to bring certified copies of ID (later told not required only originals are acceptable), get original letter from school, bring proof of address for me and I will need to complete a form re him living with me. I confirm what is required and where I need to go when I have gathered the supporting documents and child - dragging a hot and tired teenager to do admin is difficult at the best of times, so wanted to make sure I had everything and knew what needed to be done.

I return a week later and waited in the queue for 40 mins only to be told I am in the wrong queue ...............

I am redirected to a consultant.

Another close to 40 mins later I now need to get back to work and ask am i needed for anything else? I have mentioned 3x his account is to remain linked with mine. I am told it will need to be de-linked and he will need to provide me with signing power etc etc and I stand firm on whatever is required needs to be done to ensure accounts are linked.

Finally I am told I can go as all my son needs is to have his card issued and set up.

I leave and 15 mins later my son says he is finished and I need to go back to have my account linked - FUMING!!!

I then go back and three consultants later my eldest son's account is now also delinked and they are unable to link my younger son's account. When asked why the account was not linked before I left I was told it was because I said I was in a hurry ............. I had been at the bank over an hour already! When I asked if i was needed for anything thing else with the repeated instruction the accounts were to be linked - this would have been a good time for the consultant to advise - yes, you still need to link the accounts and I would have stayed.

Their solution - set your son's up as a beneficiary and then bring both your boys in to link the accounts, which were linked in the first place. Was told once child is over 18, the account automatically delinks BUT my eldest is almost 20?

Way to go Std Bank! Way to show your potential new young clients how your organisation works.
