Very Hostile Bank

<p>Recently i went to Standard Bank (Woodmead) to try and reopen my bank account using my work permit (Exceptional S****s), as i had been out of the country for a while (2 years). After submitting my application they informed me that my permit which is valid until July, had exipred. They gave me other excuses which clearly demonstrated their level of incompetence. I found it bizarre that a permit i've been using for the past 4 years to travel into and out of the country could be suddenly deemed to be invalid by a bank. Perharps they are now a quasi-immigration unit of Home Affairs, but such a hostile approach towards migrant works is really unwarranted. Surprisingly i'm not the first one to complain about such an attitude from Standard Bank. If they no longer accept applications from foreign nationals then they should come out in the open rather than give petty excuses for not wanting to open bank accounts !!</p>
