USELESS STANDARD BANK

I have a student loan at Standard Bank which I am currently paying back through monthly installments which go off with a debit order. As I was pregnant and going on maternity leave ( with very little pay), I went to the Standard Bank branch (at Greenstone Mall) in order to apply for a payment holiday on my student loan, as I will not be able to pay them once I go on maternity leave and receive less pay. I was informed that I am not able to apply for a payment holiday as I am not in arrears. I can only apply once I am in arrears. This to me was ridiculous as that is what I am trying to avoid by notifying them that I am not going to be able to pay, thus applying for a holiday payment. The assistant helping me at the branch, put me through to the accounts department (I think) telephonically , where I was also told that I need to be in arrears in order to apply for a payment holiday. The person I spoke to gave me an email address and said to email them, as they may be able to assist me with the holiday payment application. While I was at the branch, I updated my details that Standard Bank had, as I got married, changed addresses and email addresses. Back home I sent an email to the given email address: this was 31 March 2018. I realized it was on a Saturday and patiently waited for feedback the following week. Today is the 18th of June, I have since gone on maternity leave and given birth, but have not received any feedback from Standard Bank. Not only did I not receive any feedback, the personal details I changed AT the branch and had to SIGN for, STILL is incorrect. My statements still go to the old email address, still has my old address and surname. SO WHAT WAS THE USE OF ME GOING TO THE BRANCH THAT DAY: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

This is not my first problem with Standard Bank. I closed my student account once I started paying back my loan and also incurred ridiculous problems with them (but that's a story for another day). The point is, I wasted my time going into the branch: How can you not qualify for a holiday payment unless you are in arrears. That means that I will get penalised with interest because I can't pay, even though I am trying to make a plan and inform them upfront. Also how the hell can I sign for my personal information to be updated, only for it to remain the same????? IS NO ONE WORKING AT STANDARD BANK??

They are a useless bank and I will never refer anyone to them.

So after this response I was assured an an email sent by Bernadine Naidoo that my details have been changed. I just received my quarterly statement from Standard Bank and surprise surprise my details were NOT CHANGED. I also have not been contacted in regards with a holiday payment application. This is literally the WORST service I have ever received. NO ONE SHOULD COUNT ON STANDARD BANK TO DO ANYTHING FOR THEM IF THEY CANNOT EVEN RESPOND TO A SIMPLE REQUEST. Pathetic!
