USELESS!! NO WONDER WE DON'T BANK WITH THEM!!

I am an ABSA account holder. On Saturday 4 March 2017 at 14h17 I withdrawn R5 000-00 at Emnotweni casino's Standard Bank ATM. The ATM gave me R5 0000's R100 notes. I immediately saw that the notes were stained. I went straight to one of the casinos' employees to show them the money.

They called security and took me to one of their interview rooms. I explained to them what happened and that I never take a receipt at any ATM as I receive text messages from my bank. I also showed them the text message to confirm the date and time of my withdrawal.

While I was in the interview room the security brought in another lady with 2 x R100-00 notes that was also stained that she withdrawn at the same ATM. The casino staff took our details and each notes' serial number.

The staff told us that they can't help us, but they contacted the ***** department at Standard Bank to notify them of the event. The casino staff told us that we should take the money to the nearest Standard Bank branch. They will replace the stained notes with "normal" notes.

On Monday 6 March 2017 I went to Standard Bank at The Grove in Nelspruit. I told a lady what happened and that I am still in possession of the stained notes. She just told me that they can't help me because I don't have any ATM receipt to proof the transaction and they are actually just a service center, I should go to the main branch which is at Riverside Mall.

I went to Riverside Mall, but they were closed due to no electricity. I couldn't go to the bank any other day during the week because I also have work responsibilities. So on Saturday 11 March 2017 I went back to Standard Bank at Riverside Mall and I spoke to two employees. They didn't know what to do as they said it is the first time that they ever had to deal with something like this.

The gentleman took my contact details and promised to get back to me as soon as he has any answers for me. So I left the bank and went back to the casino to tell them that I am still in possession of the notes and that I need the money.

The casino told me that I should go to the police station and open a case that tell my story. They also told me that the police will confiscate the money, but the officers are more than welcome to go to the casino and they will show the officers the footage and confirm my story.

On Monday 13 March 2017 I received a call from the gentleman working at Standard Bank Riverside Mall, he told me that Standard Bank will unfortunately not be able to help me because I am not a Standard Bank account holder. I should go to ABSA, they will give me my money back.

I'm not even going to waste my time going to ABSA because I feel ABSA has nothing to do with it, because the money comes from a Standard Bank ATM.

The staff of Emnotweni casino advised me to put my compliant on Hello Peter. Today is the 22nd of March and I am still in possession of the R5 000-00 that I can’t even use.

Standard Bank doesn’t act up to this problem and in the mean time I have to drive from one Standard Bank branch to another and no one wants to help me. Not only do I sit with R5 000-00 that I can’t use, I have to drive out my diesel, use my airtime and waste my time to beg Standard Bank for assistance. They just don’t care!!!
