Unsavory bank process for the elderly.

I've so discussed at the way standard bank promenade has been treating my elder parents. It started with my mother's bank account that got blocked as my father entered the incorrect pin several times. As a result my mother had to go into the bank to have it resolved. My mother is a pensioner and looks after 3 of my sisters 4 children which means along with her pension she so dependent on the sassa funds are also paid into. My mothers memory is not very good and she suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. To issue her a new card she was requested to sign a document. She did that and it was told to her the signature they have on record and the one she made now does not match. She didn't fully understand this but was told they won't be issueing her with a new card as they are unable to authenticate her. She was given some options to pursue outside of the bank but without any piece of paperwork to help her along the way. My father, also a pensioner took her back to the bank to help sort this mess out. Both had their ID documents with them but this basically means nothing. Once again they were told by a consultant and branch manager they are unable to help despite the fact that my mother had her ID document with her. While I can understand the reasons for preventing *****e I don't think that this bank has taken a few things in consideration. My parents don't drive, I have to take them everywhere. They were told to either get power of attorney or letters from 2 different doctors explaining her medical issues. I took my parents to the day hospital as she had a history or record with them but as you can imagine the lines are long so the wait is extremely long for elder people just wanting to see a doctor to issue a letter. You might think why not use private doctors. Have you seen consultation fees for seeing a private doctor these days! After a long wait they eventually got to see a doctor. The doctor then advised he can't help as he didn't exactly know what the bank wants as they have no papers. This no means my parents in their state, has to go back to the bank, then back to the hospital and wait in the long lines to go see a doctor.

I being a customer of standard bank with multiple accounts finds this completely dissatisfactory and utterly poor service. I would expect someone senior to contact me to help resolve this issue as a matter of urgency!
