Unsatisfied treatment from front desk staff
My standard bank app was deactivated, so I visited the standard bank branch in Springs on the 25/08/2023. The young lady at the help desk advised me to sit in the queue to get help, I was the only non black in the bank at that time, a minute later she walks past me with a box of chocolates which she asks everyone in the queue in front of me to take one, she walks past me again and still doesn't offer me a chocolate. Minutes later she calls me back to the help desk to check what's wrong with my app, there's other clients coming in, and she continues to offer everyone chocolates except me. These are obviously complimentary chocolates from the bank, and she's clearly discriminating me, I hate playing the ****** card, but how else am I supposed to interpret it. It's not about me wanting a chocolate, but the principal behind it, how I was disrespected and treated. Back to the problem with the app, she asks me to sign in, my ID number comes up as the username, she scolds and says you must only use your email address to sign in, and scolds me that I save everything hence the problem with the app not working. She continues to impatiently give more instructions, which proves fruitless, as my profile is deactivated. I ask her if I can get help from someone inside, and she says another lady at the help desk will help me, which also proved futile. The lady then says I must join the queue as I need to speak to someone on the phone, but no indication is made as to when the call would be made. I have just come from the Dr with a bad tooth infection, my face is swollen, and I have to resolve this problem, as I need the app working to pay my bills and buy utilities for the month. I ask the lady if I can make this call from home, as I also need to buy groceries, after a few minutes she says I can go make the call from home. I email standard bank, they unlock my profile and ask me to reset my password which is done successfully, when I sign in, I get a notice this device is already registered and I can't sign in. The next day, face still swollen and in pain, I have to take a taxi to go pay my bills, and wait in long queues to buy lights, water and data. My two concerns are the young lady at the front desk needs to be schooled about being professional, polite and helpful, which clearly doesn't come naturally, she is representing standard bank and is this the reputation that this bank wants to be synonymous with. Secondly in this day and era when digital banking is the new norm, must we still be inconvenienced with a banking app that doesn't work and staff not equipped to give proper help. From my observation this young lady was very warm and polite to all the other clients, I was singled out and treated very rudely and spoken down to as if I was some delinquent school kid. My previous visits with standard bank was very pleasant, the guy that used to be at the front desk was very warm and helpful, and so were the staff in the cubicles and at the tellers.
