Unhelpful employees

I have had a bad experience before with Standard Bank where my card became compromised and I phoned the ***** line. I was asked some questions and although I answered them all truthfully, none of them were deemed correct and I was shut out of my bank account. So I went to the Cresta branch of the bank to re-open my account. Many wasted hours. Though the bank never gave me any substantial feedback, it seemed that the ***** originated in the bank itself. If I had had a banking app, I would have lost my money. Fortunately, I did not have an app and I was saved so to speak. On 8 September 2026 at 10:46, I received a message that a Stitch Express profile had been linked to my card and I needed to report it. When I reported it, I was asked questions again that I answered truthfully, but again there was deemed a mistake, because I did not know what the cash withdrawal limit of my account was, for the simple reason that I never withdraw cash with the card. I have had that card for such a long time, I actually cannot remember that I have ever known what the cash withdrawal limit was. So I could not be helped, the Stitch Profile could not be removed I and was told to go into the bank, which is a very unpleasant experience as you wait for hours at the branch in Tzaneen. Banking has changed for the worst in the last few decades. You cannot just speak to a banker to sort out your problem. Bank employees are trained to not take anything you say personally, so they never reflect on their own unhelpfulness, inability or lack of effort to help you. If you get frustrated, the problem is regarded as yours and then you are then offered an insincere apology. Actually, there are no replacements for intelligence, helpfulness and sincerity. Maybe banks should consider such qualities important when appointments are made. I will hold the bank accountable for any losses I may incur, because of the unhelpfulness of the staff and the expectation that I should know facts about my own account, that only a very experienced, *****ulent ****mer working in the bank would know.
