Unhappy client
I have been a client with Standard Bank about 20 -25 years. After Covid things took a turn for the worst and I have been struggling financially trying to meet my obligations and somehow manages to survive. My (Cheque account) have been recently handed over by Standard to Findley & Niemeyer attorneys where they were instructed by Standard Bank to start with a reduction order on my Overdraft facility. I have taken this up with Standard Bank and according to them I was under Debt review for a short period and this is why I was handed over. The "debt review" was disguised as a consolidation loan at the time but I managed to get out of it. According to the attorneys I am not under debt review, but they were instructed by Standard bank to continue. I have to date not received a single call from Standard bank explaining this to me. I am now threatened with legal action by the attorneys if I do not agree with the reduction order. Standard bank has helped me before regarding payment arrangements but this time they had gone too far. I know what my obligations are and have never run away from it. I am sure if they look at my profile with them, they should be able to see what type of client I am. Loyalty however means nothing. Maybe I am missing something but would like Standard Bank to explain this to me.
