*********ly shady handled and request fairness
After my dad passed on the 29th September 2019 we discovered that he had a will with Standard Bank We could not get much help or information from standard bank. . We finally got a copy of the will by the masters and found out that my dads grand daughter was the beneficiary and my elders brother the executor. The beneficiary is an employee of standard bank. The will was dated the 2nd February 2016 . Letter of authoirty has now been given over to Standardbank as my brother renounced his executorship.
My mother that is a pensioner stayed with my dad for over 40 years with my sister when he passed on. In order for us to contest the will we need a lawyer and tried Legal Aid and Legal Practice Council but due to Covid we are still struggling to do so because they do not allow walk in clients and we have to wait for them to contact us.
This is very stressful for my as a mum as a pensioner and its affecting her health. I spoke Standard bank on Tuesday and her response was that she is almost done with the process and it will take another 21 days than the process to be finalised. We have been to the branch but also waiting for all the information regarding the will.
How unfair is it that a financial institution gets privilege in the legal process during COVID and as a family we are not able to contest this is in time. When we contacted Standbank they told us that they are already in progress and we have 21 days if we want to contest. The legal system consulted cannot assist us within 21 days. The fact that the beneficiary works for StandardBank is also questionable in pushing for this to be done without fair representation from the family.
We feel this process is been *********ly shady handled and request fairness and answers.
