********* PRACTICE - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!

I will never bank with STD bank again - worst after care service that I've ever encountered, absolutely shocking.

I took out a personal loan in May 2017 of R55 000.00. In the interim I underwent debt review and honored all payments, covid came with salary reductions and again - proof was sent to them and arrangements put in place. I've requested a statement of accout after already paying R78 530.68 - the remaining balance on the account is a shocking R100 578.34 as of 2022.11.03. Thus meaning that I am expected to pay R179 109.02 on a loan of R55 000.00.

This is ridiculous - as a Bank I am sure you are fami**** with the in Duplum law - a law which protects borrowers from exploitation by lenders who permit interest to accumulate unchecked. The total interest including initiation fees, service fees, collection fees and interest may not exceed the balance of the unpaid debt. Which then means that they would only be allowed to charge R110 000 at most in total.

Now besides that... when undergoing Debt review it was requested that I join their credit insurance (which I did) - I then sent STD Bank the cancellation of credit insurance letter along with proof of my new policy in order for them to cancel my policy with std bank - I even have acknowledgement of receipt there of on their side - Yet they still debited my account from 2019 to date. Another shocking R15 096.30 that I'm expected to pay.

By law and within the in Duplum act - It should have looked something like this at MOST. R55 000.00 + R55 000.00 (at MOST) = R110 000.0 - the R78 530.68 that I've already paid and the R15 096.30 To be credited into my account = R16 373.02.

I've been advised by our family lawyer, whom is an advocate himself that the in Duplum act should have taken effect.

I will be logging a complaint with the NCR and Ombutsman as this is really poor service. How many people actually know their rights and end up paying hundreds of thousands of rands in error!.

I've requested a settlement on this account from you guys in August, numerous times to no avail. Even sent a proposal for reviewing, your lack of response therein has been heaven sent now that I am informed as a consumer.

CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS!!

Good day Standard bank,

Thank you for your automated reply to my review, assuring me that my matter has been prioritised for resolution - same response to the 100's of other bad reviews on here.
Your lack of customer relations is concerning.

Unfortunatley - I need to attempt to solve this internally before handing the case over to the NCR/Ombutsman; hence this is me keeping a papertrail to support my case.

Once again, awaiting your response.

Regards.
A

Good day STD Bank,

You have asked for an extension till 12.12.2022 via email on friday.
As I am closing off business for the day I have yet to receive an update on this query - you have had more than enough time to review the matter as all evidence has been sent for your perusal. The initial contract which you sent me a copy of also supports my query that you by law - can not charge me more in interest, collection fees, service fees etc than the original amount borrowed. Proof of the credit insurance being cancelled has also been sent through where a STD bank consultant clearly acknowledge receipt thereof - "forwarding it to the correct department". After which I also emailed it to the address advised by her to be sure that it was sent. Still awaiting your feedback.

This is ridiculous - you have no problem handing me over for collection and canceling my debt counseling order when you in fact are not complying with the law protecting consumers against exploitation.

STILL AWAITING YOUR CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK.

Today is the 15th of December 2022. 9 Working days since the complaint, yet - we've established that I indeed need to be credited for the credit insurance inaccurately debited for 4 years. Awaiting the re-reimbur*****t thereof within the next 3 working days.
However - even after multiple requests again - to STD Bank and daly call which you've handed me over to - No one has actually gotten in contact with me with regards to the ******** way in which the loan repayment was calculated - I would expect you to restructure the calculations according to my contract (and the in duplem law - which clearly states that you cannot charge me more in interest, collection, insurance ect. than the outstanding balance AT THE TIME OF DEFAULT). To repay R179 109.02 on a loan of R55 000.00 is exploitation!. How does it possibly take this long to recalculate figures and amend them as such when you have all the proof in your hands?. I would like a statement - with an explanation of your calculations on how you actually got to that amount so that the NCR / OMBUTSMAN could confirm that this indeed is calculated correctly, as I have lost all faith in STD Bank at the moment - due to your consultants giving incorrect advice, amending their finds only after I send them proof of the LAW and changes thereto. This almost leaves me wondering if they lack knowledge thereof or if they are trying to get as much as they can out of your customers by being ********. I've also requested a full statement of account on the other loan I recently settled with STD Bank - which I never got a statement for - and was advised that it takes 7 working days to pull - today is day 7..lets see if I get it. But Again, we've already established through the STD Bank credit insurance department that the refund made on the credit insurance last November was ALSO calculated incorrectly - and in face is missing 8 months of contributions!. Which is also due to me.
Can we please get these accounts sorted out - so that I can repay whatever is due to you by law and carry on with my life.

The more I deal with your consultants, the more frustrated I become at their lack of willingness to assist. Thank you I received a Statement for the paid up account - however this was not what I requested, and I am not able to communicate with Justin Pillay whom is the consultant assisting as you cannot respond to the emails he sent and there is no line for him going through the call center. However the very helpful lady at the complaints department was the middleman between a telephone call relaying message to message from me to him. Apparently you, STD Bank want to charge me for a statement on my account (which you FAILED to send me in the first place) - never the less... you are also unable to send me a FULL Transaction of account statement from the date I took out this loan.... Please do not lie to me, earlier this week I received a detailed statement on my other loan account which included ALL transactions to date - why are you not able to supply information on a account I paid for?. I waited 7 working days for the 6 months worth of statements Justin Pillay provided. PLEASE SEND ME ALL THE INFORMATION, INCLUDING MY CONTRACT, FULL STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT WHICH INCLUDES ALL CREDIT INSURANCE DEBITS, INTEREST, BANK FEES so I can have this reviewed by the NCR. account no ***.

Good Morning Standard bank,

Today is the 9th of January, More than a month since I've submitted this whole complaint.

I've dealt with numerous customer care consultants on your side - yet the complete issue has not been resolved. How is this even acceptable or possible??.
As mentioned in my previous comment, the credit insurance premiums debited in error since feb 2017 was credited to my account. Nothing else has been sorted out.

I have requested, and been advised that the statement would be sent to me numerous times without ever receiving it on account *** - I've recently settled this account trusting STD Bank to give me the correct settlement figures ( since I've NEVER received an actual statement from you on this account) - however my trust in you as a bank has been completely broken. Hence I need a full statement from the time the account started till it was settled to have this looked at by the NCR.

Then - another request for what feels like the millionth time. Can you please send me a restructured full and final settlement amount along with a full statement of account for account no *** as I want to settle this. I will want ALL charges added to the account to be visible on the statement so that this can also be checked by the NCR prior to settlement.

I have advised STD Bank and Daly Call that I would stop making payment to the account until this has been actioned as I've already pair R80 000+ on a R55 000.00 loan.

Please escalate this to the department that will actually deal with it promptlyl!.
