I sold my property, and the buyer obtained a home loan from Standard Bank. After numerous delays, missing deadlines and errors, the guarantees were eventually supp**** more than 2 months late. The documents were lodged with deeds office within days. 10 days later, and 2 days before transfer would have taken place, Standard Bank advised that they were no longer willing to proceed, due to missing documentation. The question is why they issued guarantees in the first place. With all the delays on their part, and then pulling out of the transaction at the 11th hour, smacks of extreme incompetence. Their action has put me in a rather precarious financial situation. All of this could have been avoided had they done their job properly.
