Unauthorised charges
So, what's my Next ...a new Bank, I think! 1.On 19 Oct 2017, I was charged R1102 (unknown debit) on my credit card, which I immediately reported to Standard Bank. After approx 45min of telephone time, I was assured this would be investigated and I would hear back within 6 buiness days. I heard nothing. On 15 Nov, I called again, and I was assured the matter was resolved and the charge would be reversed within 2 days. Last week I again contacted them, nothing. The charge still reflects on my statement! This is so frustrating as every phone call is at least 15-20min, with no joy! Reference numbers dont help. 2. I tried to withdraw cash from a Standard bank ATM in Blairgowrie, which told me my (newly issued) card was damaged, and to contact the bank. I needed some cash, so I withdrew from the nearby ABSA machine. To my surprise, I was charged an additional R37.50 by Standard Bank, in addition to the few extra Rand for using a non-Standard bank ATM. After over 30 min on the phone, after copious verifications, I was advised that my bank charges only allow 4 withdrawals per month. I dont withdraw often, so they then told me, regardless of number of withdrawals, using a non-Standard bank ATM is not included. I requested a refund, she politely agreed, then told me that I was to go into the bank at Blairgowrie and they would refund me. Since there is no branch there, I could go into any branch and request the refund. After already wasting half an hour of my life on the phone for R37.50, I dont think I will go into a bank and waste more time for R37.50, which I am sure is their strategy. I am so very disappointed in the (lack of) service.
