Unable to close bank account

I waited for more than an hour at the branch to close my standard bank cheque account. When they eventually helped me, they said they are unable to close the bank account.<br> I have already opened a bank account at a different bank and now I have to pay both monthly fees.<br> It is unacceptable that they are unable to close the bank account, this borders *****/ theft.
