Transaction : Rek no *** (<515744>)

WE have been dealing with the department within Standard Bank receiving money from abroad and fixing the exchange rate for that money. The account number is *** : A Cronje. (<AD515744>). The complaint history is per copied emails. Since 20 November we have received n o feedback from Standard Bank as per ***. This morning we are experiencing the exact same problems. Good Morning Lefa

The above-mentioned account is in the name of Adriaan Cronje. Adriaan is my son and he is employed with Zimex in Switzerland. He works for them in various countries. He is currently based in Algeria.

I, Elizabeth Cronje with ID ***, am his mother and is the holder of a power of attorney to act on his behalf.

Adriaan gets paid from Switzerland in Euros on the 15th of a month. If the 15th falls on a weekend he gets paid on the Friday.

I have been doing the negotiations regarding the exchange rate of the amount of his salary for a very long time when he is out of the country. There are several other South Africans working with him for Zimex who has accounts with Ned Bank, FNB etc. Now here is what we are unhappy:-

1) The ones with other banks usually get a better exchange rates than that given by Standard Bank;

2) The money for those with other banks are usually available when business open. In the case of Standard bank it is not available immediately. One has to phone up to three times before the money is in. Why? All the payments come from the same company, the same country and in the same currency.

3) Since I have been performing this function for my son. I phoned, found out the Euro amount that is in and then negotiated for the best exchange rate. I could even request to the employee to find a better exchange rate from a broker. The last two months I was told that I could not ask for an exchange rate from a broker. Why/

4) This month on the 13th i phoned to enquire if my son’s salary was in. As usual it was not in and I had to phone again later. When I phoned later your employee informed me that his salary was in and that is was already exchanged to Rand. As you can see we were not afforded the opportunity by Standard bank to negotiate an exchange rate. Who decided to do it this way and is it now Standard bank policy the a customer is not allowed to negotiate an exchange rate?

These actions by Standard bank is making us very unhappy customers. Please advise soonest.

Regards

Elsa Cronje

Ek verwag n spoedige antwoord. Groete Mev E Cronje.
