title deed lost?

Please assist <br> <br> I have signed an offer to purchase for a vacant land in February 2015 and paid the deposit end of April 2015 .To date the property has not been registered , reason given is that Standard Bank has lost the title deed and the transferring attorney are awaiting instruction from the bank to apply for the lost copies. <br> <br> Can someone from Standard Bank advise as to why the query is take this long to resolve
