The ATM swallowed my cash deposit!

I attempted to make a deposit. Unfortunately, the bank swallowed my cash deposit, with no confirmation or receipt. Here are the details.

Amount: R4350
Time : 07 August 2017
ATM ID: A400 in Eastgate Mall
Reference used: 104 rev tab

"Notes were retracted", or something alike. However, at that exact point, the machine started accepting the money into the slot, note by note. At the end, instead of being showed a confirmation and being allowed to print a receipt, I was instead taken back to the home screen; the machine looked like it had before I begun using it. It was as if nothing at all had happened. There was no receipt printed.

This is obviously highly inconvenient and traumatic. The ATM should have at least returned my money. I am certain the fault is not mine and i am luckly to incurr interest or charges on my rent and while a technician was working at the back at that time and he advised that he can't do anything for now as it was late.

How is one supposed to trust Standard Bank and its technology after an experience like this?

I reported it and a reference number was sent to my phone. This morning i called ans spend hours on the phone only to be told to go to any branch.

I went to the branch at Carlton no joy was received. After wasting my time from work. They advising me to wait until 15th August to be resolved while i am going to incurr charges and interest on my rent and I am not at fault.

they advised that i must wait for the atm custodian. All that got nothing to do with me. Could not someone fix these broken atm and made a deposit in the account?

This is really ****ing me off as they keep on saying they are not responsible for any further charges while it is their atm's fault.

Whose fault then?
