Thank you to two specific consultants.

Today I want to thank Lina Thlapi (Prestige Banker at Middelburg Branch) and Danessa Dormack (Forex consultant at Menlyn mall Branch). Let me start by saying that if it wasn't for these two people I my rating would have been one star. We are travelling overseas soon and wanted to get forex from our local forex branch (Witbank). We live in Middelburg, so Witbank is approximately 30 minutes away. Two weeks prior to our departure I tried to contact the Witbank branch to ascertain whether they had enough euros for our travels. I firstly struggled for half a day to reach anybody at Witbank. Then they eventually phoned me back. Then the consultant informed me that she only had 100 and 200 Euro notes. I told her that I would not like anything bigger than 50 Euros. I told her to buy coffee with a 200 Euro note is like purchasing a coffee in SA with a R4000 note. A lot of the shops in Europe doesn't even accept such big notes. Her attitude was, take it or leave it. I asked her whether she can order Euros but she said it will take 3 weeks. I was shocked. We enquired from Nelspruit (Provincial office), and they said that they have Euros, but we will have to travel to Nelspruit to collect it. Nelspruit is 2 hours away from us. This was horrific. I contacted the local FNB, ABSA and Nedbank branches. They all informed me that they had Euros in stock but since we didn't bank with them they couldn't help us. At this point, we seriously considered moving from banks. We are very loyal Standard Bank customers. So it was very upsetting. I then contacted the Standard Bank Forex Direct department, completed all the documents and sent all the relevant documents required. They then informed me that they don't deliver to Middelburg. Once again, our friends who also stays in Middelburg and who are banking with FNB receives their Euros delivered to their door. Our Prestige Banker, Lina Thlapi at Middelburg Branch tried her best to assist us and kept in constant contact. Eventually she assisted us with the number of Menlyn Mall where we got into contact with Danessa Dormack. Since we didn't have another choice we had to travel 1.5 hours to Pretoria from Middelburg to get Forex. Danessa assisted us on a Saturday and went above and beyond to assist us. We were very pleased with Lina and Danessa, eventhough it nearly cost us R1000 to travel to Pretoria and half a day. This was not the best experience from Standard Bank, but due to Lina and Danessa we are staying at Standard Bank.
