Thank you for another bare festive season

Good day .

I would officially like to lay a complaint against Standard Bank based on the following two reasons :

1. They debited me an amount wihtout my approval based on a term they deem "special collections" for an account which has been dormant for well over a year now during the christmas period. I have been unemployed for the better part of a year and hence could not afford their so called prestige account fees and asked for the account to be closed last year in June, Without any warning or notification , a debit was run off the account, When i approached the branch asking for a reason , they transferred me to "special collections"(I did some investigations and no other banks have an department called "special collections". I understand the set off rule but surely there must be some previous form of communication either via email, sms, phone call , smoke signal etc before something like this can be done ? After discussing the issue for 20 minutes i was told unequivocally that nothing will be done and the money is absorbed into a collections. When asked if this could be given to me in writing , the consultants stated no and they would continue debiting at random till the account is fully paid. Firstly , this was a cheque account and not a credit card where i transacted on using it when no funds where available. Secondly they decide to debit me now just when I had a little extra cash for the christmas period to treat my family. When asked , there is no clear explanation nor any empathy from their side. This needs to be seriously looked at. As per the collections process , a client must have a ptp in place before a debit occurs on any of their accounts I had no such thing in writing and am therefore questioning the legality of the so called set off rule on non-credit bearing accounts.

2. I did an eft from FNB to STD Bank on Friday the 21st Dec along with transactions to Capitec as well as FNB, The FNB and Capitec transactions cleared by Saturday into the relevant 3rd party accounts however the STD Bank transaction did not. When i approached the sub standard bank for an answer i was told on an official recording by the supervisor at Electronic banking that FNB was in fact lying to me and that the problem lies with them, I went back to FNB who confirmed that the payment was released to STD Bank for processing on Saturday the 22nd Dec 2018 and that STD Bank needed to approve the funds in my account, When i requested a copy of the recording , i was told that a copy could not be sent to me but rather would only be made available at a branch for listening purposes which goes against my CPA rights.

This is the second occurence that STD banks sub par payments system has let me down, I was a business banking client with them last year and processed Salaries when the money was available in my account , on Friday the 22nd dec 2017. Only my STD Bank staff got their funds before christmas. The rest on the 27th Dec 2017, I received death threaths and my vehicles where targeted along with members of my family. They really ******ed up the festive season for my staff and myself last year and seem to be doing it again this year with their ************ behaviour and outdated banking transaction systems.

I would like the following from the bank :

- My offset amount returned to me along with a payment plan which can suit both of us. - An acknoweldgement that their EFT system is sub standard and they will be looking at resolving the problem.

While at the branch , about 4 clients in front of me complained about the second point where funds where eft to them and didnt reflect. Some of these where longer than the 2 business days prescribed. I am prepared to get a petition going with other clients who have had simi**** experiences with std bank using a combination of techniques and taking the matter further if no valid resposne is received from the bank, In the interim i do not wish to be as ************ as this organisation and will therfore only consult legal counsel in the new year given i can make it through to that time without them taking a strand of DNA or my first born and then blaming it on the comeptition,

Kind Regards

Good day. I trust that you are well and all the best for 2019. I did as requested above and still have not received any feedback altough the consultant did advise me that they are awaiting feedback on the 31st December. I require this issue to be resolved asap. I have approached the NCR as well as the banking ombudsman and consumer watch, I am giving he bank till tomorrow to rectify my situation or i will be escalating the matter, Kind Regards
