Terrible service from Standard Bank.
When I last used my Standard Bank ATM card, I was advised that it was expiring at end October 2020 and that I should visit my local branch to collect my replacement card. Yesterday (16 Oct) I went to the Woodmead branch and joined the Enquiries queue at 10.30am. I noticed there were about 8 clients ahead of me so I thought that this would not take too long. However the queue was moving extremely slowly and customers ahead of me were each taking at least15 minutes to be attended to and one particular client took at least an hour. Steadily the queue was being joined by more clients and when finally it was my turn to be attended to I had waited in the queue for 1 hour and 45 minutes. By that time the queue had doubled to about 18 clients and they certainly had my sympathies. It was extremely annoying & frustrating to observe that the enquiries counter was being manned by only 2 consultants, although there is provision for 4 consultants. Is there a manager at this particular branch and if so does he or she ever check to see that clients are being serviced within a reasonable timeframe? Why was the number of consultants not increased to 4 once it became evident that clients had to wait so long before being serviced. Also surely clients who are going to take an extraordinary amount of time should not be glued to the enquiries counter for over an hour but should be attended to in one of the numerous office cubicles which were nearly all empty when I was there. By the time I had been attended to and walked out of the branch it had taken me a whole 2 hours just to collect an ATM card. I can only say that I am extremely disappointed in Standard Bank for this very poor 3rd rate service.
