Terrible service from Standard bank

Wow, I had a bad experience with Standard bank two months back and can’t believe they have managed to top it. I was going to leave out my follow up from hellopeter but after this I need to tell it.

After trying to get my access bond reactivated, which was in credit of R550,000 so I could buy a second property with my partner. Standard bank finally contacted me to tell me it was granted (Via an sms and making me call them) All I had to do was for myself and my wife to go and sign. Well my wife passed away 12 years ago. Oh she said we will have to send it back to be corrected. About 10 days later I finally get the call saying it had been granted again and will I and my wife go and sign for it at a branch. Well, I am normally a patient and self controlled type of guy and luckily understood it was not the poor persons fault calling me, she did take the initial abuse until I calmed down though. This was a very important deal I was doing and had been waiting about three weeks for them to grant access to my money which I had been saving in my bond. The standard bank person even agreed after reading the computer notes regarding this matter that Standard bank are ***********. To solve the matter I told her I am going to sell the property instead of waiting for *********** standard bank staff to fix it up, probable quicker anyway (joke). She did start the cancellation process of my bond which I was grateful for. Luckily my partner could cover all the building costs until I can pay her back once my property is sold. Okay, that’s the update which I was not going to bother with until they have just P*&%@$ me off again.

Now, I am dealing with Standard bank insurance. A simple matter of a broken window which I thought I would claim for since I have had them for 39 years and claimed once when the geyser broke. I sent an email after hanging on the phone for 10 minutes with no answer, asking for someone to call me, I even found the broken glass form and attached it and sent it to the claims email address. Okay, maybe the email went astray, so I resent it with a note saying second time 5 days later. I gave it another 5 days, and guess what, never heard a thing. 3rd time the email went with a note saying if I do not hear from you I will contact hellopeter. This time I get an automated response “...This is an automated response, so please do not respond to this email address directly. Your electronic enquiry has been submitted successfully and will be responded to shortly...” Finally some sort of action, I am writing this after 6 days of waiting for someone to contact me.

If you are looking for a bank or insurance, there are many banks to choose from, give this one a miss.
