Terrible Home loan experience-SHOCKED

I am reverting to Hello Peter as a last resort. Despite being a prestige Std Bank customer for 10 years I have had better & more efficient service from Banks I dont even bank with. Nedbank who I do not bank with and had to request my statements rep**** within 5 days.

My partner(Commercial Pilot) and I(Management level employed) have had 2 houses with Std bank & both financed @ 100% bonds. Both houses were settled in full, never was a payment missed and we always paid extra into our bonds. Last year October we sold our house as we wanted to relocate closer to our work places. This year we found the house we wanted and app**** for a Bond(Currently in a rental). WHAT A MISTAKE-I should never of sold my previous home knowing what a mission a home loan with std bank would be.

I have had to resend paper work numerous times(yet every time I get a ref# advising the documents have been received). Many Hours of me following up with std bank on the phone and having to deal with staff that are useless have resulted in this complaint. My loan amount was captured incorrectly despite me calling daily and been asked when the security check is being done what the amount app**** for is(It was only picked up right at the end and we had to wait days for it to be re-indexed). This was one of the errors! They were out of the TAT and every day I had to call them. I am permanently employed(both of us), yet even after providing pay slips(and bank statements with a history of salary payments) the bank requested employment contracts-never have I had to do this before. They had me as being employed for under 3 months although the application stated 1 year & my previous company 6 years. Finally after getting no where I laid a official complaint which to be honest did nothing, and I never spoke with a manager although i asked to speak with a manager numerous times. The call centre staff always advised this is not possible, when asking them to confirm why other departments are taking so long as the application was out of TAT and our Offer to Purchase had expired they advise they not able to call the other departments but would email them-I never did I reveive a call, I again had to call to get feedback.

After expressing dissatisfaction numerous times the agents did not log any escalation I had to call and tell them "Please my OTP is expired or expiring and I will lose the house". I would suggest that the agents get better tools to assist complaining clients otherwise replace them with voice prompts as none of them did anything to assist my application.

Finally after logging a complaint a very nice employee John did try his best to speed up the process. I am not sure though what i am more upset about the battle and lack of urgency to get a bond from the bank or the final outcome. After all the upset and being out of TAT the bank finally came back with a 80% bond, we app**** for a 100% bond. The banks reasoning is that my partner earns Dollars and foreign exchange. This is ridiculous as the salary is paid monthly into Std Banks account and the company is a local airline. Despite my partners earnings being dollars my salary is in rands and we are both permanent employees with an excellent long history with Std Bank(10+ years of our salaries going into Std bank accounts and we are prestige), all our bonds have been settled and we have paid more when we can. I complained as this did not make sense at all, his company is based at OR TAMBO and is a local company they just pay Pilots in Dollars due to contracts they have invoiced in Dollars(Dollars converted on the day to rands when paid into his account), and for business to work in Dollars is the easiest currency for them to operate in-This should be welcomed as the Rand is so weak against the dollar. Both of us gave pay slips and not once was our history taken into account. The banking process is so un personal and no body cares. It also does not make sense at all, he had 2 full 100% bonds with std bank without me bonding with him now I am so we are even more low risk and they say because of Dollar earnings they wont budge.

We will be moving all our business to another bank and we are the perfect clients that the bank should aim to have and keep! We are growing and our earnings increasing which they can see year on year. Instead we pushed to the side and no history is taken into account. Our personal banker even tried to motivate it but because one team leaderin credit control says he does not want to budge thats the outcome-no body is willing to fight for us and whats frustrating is that we should get a full bond. The fact that the bank simply says he earns Dollars and they not willing to give more than 80% is not good enough-in todays times with our weak rand who see's earning dollars as a negative. I am also upset that the bank is not taking my earning potential into account and that between us the risk is low.

The cheak of the matter is we need to come up with 20% of the bond which we could easily do by taking out personal loans from the same bank that wont give us the full bond. SO effectively we at more risk then. We dont want to incur debt short term to buy a house but whats stopping us from taking out a personal loan and credit cards to pay the difference? I dont understand the logic that they could borrow us the full amount on a house which is there should we not pay rather than approve personal loans and short term debt which they have no claw back? i would understand getting 80% from a non Std bank client applying but considering the history and amount of money we have given Std bank over the time we have banked with them-ITS SHOCKING.

#GETMANAGERSTHATCARE

#GETMOREPERSONAL

#LOSINGEXCELLENTCLIENTS

#MOVINGOURBUSINESS
