"Sub"Standard Bank
My wife Ann Shelly Cyriac had a secondary account with me. In February we decided to have her a separate account. At the branch she was asked to sign a form for a new credit card. We were never told of a credit card protection plan. Neither did we ask for it. On Feb 12 there was a credit card protection fee R89.96 deducted. We immediately reported to the Prestige banker to stop it. Also to refund it. He reply was, "It's done." Come Mar 11, there is again a credit card protection fee R97.25 deducted. I again reported to the Prestige banker. His reply again was, "It's stopped." Come April 11 there is yet again a credit card protection fee R80.48. Tired I contacted the Prestige line - ***. Two women Dendra and Juliet phoned me. They say, "It's stopped, but no refund." Reason- i have signed an agreement (the form filled in for the new card). Besides, they say I have received a cover for the last three months!!! I told them 1. If there is an agreement it binds both of us. Well, if the form we signed consented to it without we being unaware of it (the Prestige banker had the duty to appraise us, let alone should have had the decency to ask us if we needed it) I reported this immediately in February and asked for it to be stopped. It wasn't done due to the negligence of the banker. So, if the agreement binds me for the February payment, it binds Standard Bank to have stopped it as well in February. Besides, to the Prestige bankers, Standard Bank promises 'Banking from home through the service of an appointed Prestige banker.' They say, "All that the client needs to do is send an email. In my case was a blatant betrayal. 2. Did I ask Standard Bank for a cover? They ******* me into accepting it and didn't stop it even after telling. When I tell them to stop it, how can they go on charging me in March and April?
Now there is an amount of R445 deducted as 'Telephone' this month.. inspite of writing to them tthat I do not have any contract and pointing out that it's an error and requesting to refund Standard Bank hasn't haven't sorted it.
