Student Achiever account upgraded with years of fees and penalties
When I was around the age of 15, my parents and I opened a Student Achiever account. I completely stopped using it when I was 18. I later received communication from Standard Bank notifying me that when I turn 23 (or thereabouts), I would have to upgrade the account as I would not be within the age group the account was valid for. If I didn't, it would subsequently be closed no matter the amount in it.
I didn't have anything in it so just left it to be put into a dormant state and eventually closed. To my horror, I've noticed I still have the account and that it has been automatically upgraded to a transactional account and has accrued years worth of fees and subsequent penalties now in the thousands.
Make this right Standard Bank. I'm not the only one with this exact problem on this platform.
