Strandard bank

So I go fill up at my caltex petrol station and when I have to pay my card declines, I go into the station shop to try and withdraw and the standard bank ATM is out of service. After trying to withdraw at the different other bank's atms my card still doesn't work, so I call standard bank in which I'm advised that the standard bank service is down and there is nothing they can do for me, an incident will be sent to IT and they can't help me at that point of my desperation of needing my own hard earned cash. At this time I was trying to contact people to help me using other banks. Finally I find someone to send me money using another bank but the caltex doesn't have that ATM. Had to drive, after curfew, risking being arrested to find that other bank's ATM in which I almost had a fatal accident in the process. In the end I came right with getting the money from another banking institute and payed for my petrol. Why can they not advise their customers if they are gonna have a system down problem so that we don't find ourselves in these kind of situations. Lord behold that accident after curfew which was not even gonna be paid out by my insurance because of the curfew law, or even death just because systems are down and no communication was sent. Disappointment is an understatement. I don't even know how I can continue banking with such an institution.
