STNADRD BANK SUCKS
STANDARD BANK - IT CAN BE !!!!! It CAN BE that they will take your money and refuse accountability. BEWARE of STANDARD BANK - I am shocked at the SUBSTANDARD service I have received from this allegedly reputable bank. I was a victim of *****ulent banking activity for an amount of R140K in July last year - incident reported within 4 (FOUR) minutes and now, almost 11 months later - I have NO answers and NO resolution to my problem. Somebody gained access to my bank profile - moved money around and then made 2 payments out of my account. The 2nd transaction was done WHILE I was on the phone with the ***** Department so they WATCHED the money leave my account and did nothing !! Payments were both to non-beneficiaries and no OTP's were received. The concerning part is that this 'unfortunate incident' occurred directly after I had divulged personal information to my local banking suite and to the Debtcare entre. No feedback from STANDARD BANK - 1 call in September telling me that they couldn't retrieve my funds and offering me a 50% refund (I declined) and not 1 single answer to the numerous questions I had regarding the incident. I DID click on an 'unsavoury' email (I am big enough to admit my mistakes, unlike Standard Bank) but this email came into my inbox in conjunction with an email from a Standard Bank staff member whom I had spoken to on the previous working day............................suspicious, I do think. I reported the matter to the Banking Ombudsman (a rather slow process) and as soon as I did that - my local banker refused to engage with me at all citing 'you have exercised your full right to approach the Ombudsman and we shall therefore only respond via that channel'. To date, I have been refused ANY meetings with my local banking office and they refuse to engage with me at all. All too busy to meet with me to find a resolution. Standard Banks partial response to the Ombudsman which is now in dispute pending further investigation made matters even worse as they THEN - after 3 months - decided that payments had been made via DigiMe !!!! which is something I didn't have, don't have and don't know how to use. DigiMe had never been mentioned before this. Standard Bank also accused me of compromising my personal information which I had ........to my personal banker and the Debtcare Centre !!!!!! Absolutely nowhere else. Standard Bank also alleges that DigiMe was added to my profile on a particular date which turns out to be the EXACT date that I had shared personal information with my local Banking Suite and the Debtcare Centre !!! Coincidence? I think not - and the fact that nobody from Standard Bank picked this up during their alleged investigation (if any investigation was ever done) is very concerning. I have had no access to any of bank accounts since the 10th of July last year and I was **** to and bul**** about setting up my internet banking profile and App. Standard Bank were insistent that if I activated my profile with my email address (cleared by my IT Company) - I would have to accept liability on the accounts.......................................... Nobody would accept liability in a situation where they have lost money, have no idea how and are completely vulnerable. I have now resorted to approaching the various departments within Standard Bank directly trying to obtain information on my accounts. I have sent 137 e-mails to Standard Bank, a registered letter to their Head Office (which came back unopened) and have spoken to EVERY Call Centre operator in the company and STILL - not 1 questions answered - not to the ***** incident questions or to the service related questions - Absolutely nothing !! Standard Bank have now decided, while this matter is still under investigation with the Ombudsman - to hand my accounts over to attorneys for collection !!!!! These poor attorneys are now having to tell me what my financial situation is because Standard Bank won't.
You cant make this STORY up !!!!!!
Be warned - Everybody who has an account or is thinking about opening 1 - DO NOT do it !!! Check your accounts regularly - check that services have not been added that you are unaware of and DO NOT share ANY personal information with them. Be vigilant all the time. A friend of mine was contacted telephonically earlier this week by an alleged Standard Bank staff member wanting to update her personal information for FICA. She declined and said she would rather do it in a branch and was admonished by the caller !!!! She has lived this horror story with me so she had the good sense to respond carefully. Be warned. This could very well have been legitimate but you can never be too careful. Standard Bank needs to up their game on security. I believe, very strongly, based on my experience and the many anomalies in my situation that something is wrong from within Standard Bank in both their systems and their service and they refuse to acknowledge it or even entertain the possibility !!!!! The customer doesn't matter at Standard Bank. *****ulent Activity is rampant across all banks but how your bank chooses to deal with it makes a HUGE difference. Standard Bank have failed me in customer service, ***** response, conflict resolution, security, transparency and efficiency and I am deeply disappointed that after a very long relationship - this is the manner in which it ends. #STANDARDBANKSUCKS #SECURITYISVITAL #SERVICEISEVERYTHING #STANDARDBANKDOESNTCARE
