STD BANK OPENING CHEQUE ACCOUNTS FOR PENSIONERS !!! To whom it may concern

We visited the STD BANK branch at The Glen in 2024. My mom has an account with STD BANK . She is a pensioner . She was assisted by a consultant who noted that she has a savings account and advised her that she is paying a lot of charges and recommended she converts her account for "pensioners" and she will not pay all these high charges only to find out a year later that it was converted into a cheque account. She was contacted recently and advised that this "cheque " account is in arears with charges of R1000 and now ABSA is debiting her 32 day's notice account with charges without her permission. She does not even know what this account number is. What is a pensioner with no income do with a cheque account. This account needs to be closed, and all charges reversed and her 32-day account credited. I have noted that all banks promote cheque accounts being opened to reach sales targets.
