STANDARDBANK BANK ACCOUNT

Can someone please assist me here. I moved my salary from standard bank last year July/August , and i have not used the standbank bank account since then. But today i received an email saying "FINAL DEMAND" i owe standard bank R2296 i should make payments or legal actions will be taken against me . I have not used the standard bank account for over a year but now i am receiving demand letter. Yes ibdid not close the account ,but what happened to the bank closing the account if it is not active ? Mind you i have debts with standard bank but they have never send me lawyers. Now i am not using their bank account for over a year i am owing them and i am served with letters.
